Jasper County, Missouri

Jasper County is at the heart of the region. With over 118,500 residents, our area has plenty to offer growing companies, including certified development-ready sites and abundant utilities. Quick access to interstate and state highways and Class 1 and regional rail service make locations like the Crossroads and Wildwoods Business and Industrial Parks respectively ideal for companies with logistics and distribution needs. We are also flanked by millions of acres of cropland, providing opportunities for food producers and companies in agribusiness.

We're preparing for the future with K-12 schools and higher education providers collaborating to equip students with the right skills through the Career Pathways Project and Jasper County Certified Work Ready Program. Career-focused learning is the mission of the area's postsecondary institutions, including Pittsburg State University, Crowder College, Neosho County Community College, and Labette Community College. Coupled with Joplin's Advanced Training and Technology Center, and Carthage South Technology Center, these facilities collaborate to teach in-demand skills in fields like technology, manufacturing, engineering, alternative energy, healthcare, and management.

Jasper County owes its existence to the lead and zinc that was mined in the area during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the region's technology and manufacturing is tied to this history as we boast one of the nation's largest trucking transportation company headquarters, industry leaders in battery technology and engineering, and food and beverage production. Now, the county contains the towns of Carl Junction; Carthage, which is the county seat; Webb City; and Joplin, which is the fourth largest MSA in Missouri and a bustling center of commerce .

Carl Junction

Carl Junction is in southwestern Jasper County and is contiguous with Joplin on the south and east. The housing market in the Carl Junction area has maintained its reputation as one of Missouri's fastest growing communities for its size. While the City processed an average of three to four building permits a year during the 70's and 80's, staff have had to ramp up efforts to handle today's average volume of 33 per year.

As part of a much larger market area with a population of over 500,000, including the Joplin metro area, Carl Junction is well-positioned to benefit every time a new or expanding business prospect makes a financial commitment to the area.
